This is the tale of a man who had mastered how to “Parry”.
“I have no talent at all…”
At the age of 12, a young boy named Noru had decided to train himself in the mountains after being rejected by the capital’s official training centers for being “talentless”. He believed that, with enough hard work and effort, he could one day become like the protagonists that populate his childhood stories. Full of determination, he would practice every day with his makeshift wooden sword, endlessly repeating the only sword technique he knew—“Parry”.
The hours turned into days, the days turned into months, and the months turned into years.
Eventually, he had trained this one skill to such an extreme that he could snap a thousand branches with it. However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get the desired result, he couldn’t learn any new skills required to become a real adventurer. It may be time to let go of his dream. But he couldn’t. Not just yet. Knowing this, he returned to the capital again.
This was a man of endless dedication, a man who used that dedication to become one of the strongest in the world. The only problem is, he didn’t know it yet.
He spent his entire childhood raising his proficiency in one skill
Thank you for picking up this story!
I am very curious as to how the author will pit skills vs training in this story. Training and experience are obviously very valuable in and of themselves. I wonder if any other person in this world has trained a low ranking skill to such a degree. I’m looking forward to finding out. Thanks again!
Rank F — basically, a civil servant
He parried the minotaur axe back at it, through it’s neck !! Gross
I am curious how ‘parry’, a defensive reactionary move in fencing, could even be trained effectively solo without attacks from an external source. You can only do so much practicing posture but even then how does branches get broken from a defensive move?
He parried a minotaur’s axe back and through the monster’s neck !!
Minotaur is a-class monster, party of six s-rank adventurers could not defeat !!
Ninja skills are no joke. Had a conversation in front of the guild master without him knowing anything at all.
Meeting with the princesses parents !!
The king appears, “a large man that appeared to be the landlord” Lol
The black sword is a national treasure, but what it do?
Spar with one of the six S rank heroes lol
Thanks for the chapter, i really like this novel
He understood Gilbert’s intent more than he thought
Thanks for the chapter!
Any ideas how that fist-sized flame was so impressive?
I can’t really think of anything but temperature. There’s another option about mana density, but I don’t think mana was ever mentioned before.
Fist-sized fire? Why was Rin trembling?
I really hope this story starts to move away from his misunderstanding about his power level soon. (as of chapter 12) Maybe holistically for the story, the progress speed makes sense, but I don’t feel like the author is going to give up this story line anytime soon. While Astral Library is doing a great job with the translation, I feel like I am going to be stuck not getting what the title of the story promised for another month or two.
Rim calls him Noru-sensei
The prince would absolutely lose it if he had seen Noru cleaning gutters with the black sword lol
Goblin quest !! Collect the ears as proof
It’s probably a hobgoblin lol
Just tell the dude and the guild master what he has defeated.
Goblin emperor !!
Only one silver for the effort
I dont think parry means what I think it means here…
Parry – Ward off (a weapon or attack) with a countermove.
Mc seems kinda… Idk. Lacking?
Its hero time
Thanks for the update
So funny with the different perspectives
No, he’s ignorant. Ignorant of his own power as well as ignorant of his enemy’s power
Gigantic black frog, I wonder whether it’s poisonous
It was a black dragon !!
He offered the devil spawn a rice treat lol
Darn I caught up the latest chapter uwuu
Can’t wait for more XD
Anyway, thanks for the chapter

Me? I'm just a cook
Divine shield and then divine sword? Is Ines actually Noelle?
Now that is an entrance
This man and his misunderstandings lol
Damn…. that girl is annoying as hell….

TEACH THIS DUDE COMMON SENSE!!!!

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it
to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell
Thanks for the translation!! … I got hooked with this story … Is next chapter release scheduled or the translation is stopped/dropped?
